MONDAY'S QUOTE:
You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love; the running across fields into your lover's arms can only come later when you're sure they won't laugh if you trip.
~Jonathan Carroll, "Outside the Dog Museum"
The very beginning of dating can be like walking through a mine field.
In the past I joked that I wanted my cousins back in KY to find me a nice partner and say "here marry this one!" Lucky for me that isn't what I have to do.
Being in the early stages of meeting someone you like is well....tricky.
You want to bring your best foot forward, be on your best behavior and yet I find myself being myself. I figure if a potential partner is going to stick around for a 2nd and 3rd date then he's going to see me as I am.
What I have learned is that love takes time. For me it's working on just getting to LIKE and then we can go from there. But when the time comes I like tonight's quote. It jokingly reminds me to walk carefully in the beginning of any "relationship."
Laughing at me later is actually a prerequisite for being in a relationship with me.
And I hope that he will be there to pick me up if I fall.
More importantly, learning to laugh at myself in a relationship is the one thing that I have to learn in order to make it work.
More will be revealed my friends.
