With the holidays quickly approaching I've begun to look at a number of holiday films that I thought I would recommend to all my friends and family.
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Directed by Jody Foster.
If you're dreading your Thanksgiving trip back home, just watch this film and realize that some people do have it worse at the holidays. When you're sitting at the Thanksgiving table, think of this film. Then with a chuckle pass the mashed potatoes or green bean casserole or the cranberry sauce still in the shape of the can to Aunt Ida and smile! (Click above and watch Charles Durning at his comic best give the Thanksgiving prayer.)
Great performances by this cast that includes Charles Durning and Anne Bancroft.
They are the parents to Holly Hunter, Cynthia Stevenson and Robert Downey Jr.
Other cast members are Dylan McDermott, Geraldine Chaplin, Steve Guttenburg and Claire Danes.
(Look for the boom in a shot that made it to the final theatrical print. I don't know if it is still in the DVD versions but when they screened it in the theatre I nearly fell out of my chair. LOL)
