TUESDAY is SONG DAY: #1 & #2 POP LOVE SONGS OF ALL TIME

AND the number 2 Pop Love Song of all time (according to this website anyway) is
ELTON JOHN'SYOUR SONG.

I love this song.  I've loved Elton since I was 13 years old listening to the Yellow Brick Road album.
(See lyrics below.)

The number one pop love song is SOMETHING (1969)  from The Beatles.  One of the most covered songs from the group outside of "Yesterday."  At first I couldn't find a video link and then I did another search and came up with this one.  Here is a video find of "Something" vintage 1969.  Enjoy.

SOMETHING

Something in the way she moves,
Attracts me like no other lover.
Something in the way she woos me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

Somewhere in her smile she knows,
That I don't need no other lover.
Something in her style that shows me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

You're asking me will my love grow,
I don't know, I don't know.
Stick around, and it may show,
But I don't know, I don't know.

Something in the way she knows,
And all I have to do is think of her.
Something in the things she shows me.
I don't want to leave her now.
You know I believe and how.

YOUR SONG

Music: Elton John
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin
piano and vocals: Elton John
drums: Barry Morgan
bass guitar: Dave Richmond
acoustic guitar: Frank Clark
guitar: Colin Green
12-string guitar: Clive Hicks

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
